Softball Recap: Elkhart Extends Winning Streak to Six

Elkhart had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Buffalo on Tuesday. The Elks blew past the Bison 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Elks, who have now won 14 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Gracie Wade made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Cydni Boyd and Londyn Holland did most of the damage at the plate: Boyd scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances, while Holland scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Holland has posted since back in March. Ella Lively was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory (which was Elkhart's sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Buffalo, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhart will welcome Malakoff at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Buffalo, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Groesbeck at 7:00 p.m.
