Basketball Recap: Gabriel Guzman Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Horeb Christian

Pinecrest Prep won the last time they faced Horeb Christian and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Pinecrest Prep Crocs' had just enough and edged the Horeb Christian Mustangs out 70-67. The Crocs' didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Pinecrest Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriel Guzman, who posted 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Guzman has scored at least a third of Pinecrest Prep's points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Rivero, who earned 19 points.

Pinecrest Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Horeb Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ifeanyi Ezeala, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Ravelo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Pinecrest Prep's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Horeb Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Pinecrest Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-59 loss against Miami Christian on the 9th. As for Horeb Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-48 defeat against Marathon on the 9th.
