Softball Game Preview: Sedan Devils vs. South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] Outlaws

The Sedan Devils will take on the South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] Outlaws at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sedan is looking for their season's first win.

Sedan lost 20-4 to West Elk on Monday.

Jourdyn Mashburn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.

Even though they lost, Sedan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] made easy work of Oxford on Thursday and carried off an 18-11 victory.

Ella Risley was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Rohrbaugh was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

The win got South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] back to even at 1-1. As for Sedan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Sedan's way against South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Sedan made off with a 21-13 victory. Will Sedan repeat their success, or does South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
