Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elkhorn North). They had just enough and edged out the Burke Bulldogs 13-12. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Elkhorn North as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Cole DeBuse looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Jake Janssen was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Quincy Grabenstein was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Elkhorn North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in nine consecutive games.
Elkhorn North now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Burke, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
