Softball Recap: San Leandro Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

San Leandro had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They blew past the San Lorenzo Grizzlies 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Giavanna De La Luz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Malia Bromstead was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Isabella Orozco was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

San Leandro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

San Leandro pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for San Lorenzo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Leandro will face off against Bishop O'Dowd at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Lorenzo, they will square off against Hayward at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.17 runs per game on average), something the Grizzlies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
