Basketball Recap: Grandview Takes a Loss

Grandview suffered their closest loss since December 12, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Cherokee Trail Cougars by a score of 58-56. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Grandview lost, don't look at Trevor Thomas. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 9 en route to 19 points. Thomas is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Breven Anderson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten assists.

Cherokee Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Mitchell, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Baack, who posted 16 points.

Grandview now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Cherokee Trail, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Grandview is taking a road trip to challenge Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Grandview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Mullen likes a good challenge. As for Cherokee Trail, they will be playing at home against Smoky Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cherokee Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.
