Softball Recap: Augusta Panthers vs. Lewis County Lions
Augusta had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 15. They lost 18-3 to the Lewis County Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 back in March.
As for Lewis County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-15. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.
For Lewis County's part, Myla Clark made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clark was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Egbert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Switzer, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Augusta will challenge Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lewis County, they will venture away from home to challenge Raceland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
