Softball Recap: Monta Vista Takes a Loss

Monta Vista extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Saratoga Falcons. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Matadors were not able to get on the board.

As for Saratoga, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Saratoga's part, Avi Chauhan was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sydney Riera, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Monta Vista will square off against Fremont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Firebirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Matadors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Saratoga, they will face off against Palo Alto at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
