Softball Recap: Middleton Comes Up Short

Middleton extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 5-4. They came up short against Bolivar Central, falling 22-10. Even if Middleton couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Nyah House and Brianna Harris did some serious damage despite the final result: House got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI, while Harris got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacey Downen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI.

As for Bolivar Central, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 12 runs or more this season.

On Bolivar Central's side, Addyson Smith was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Smith also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Haley Burns, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middleton will welcome Bradford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Bolivar Central, they will be playing at home against Covington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
