Baseball Recap: Alonso Comes Up Short

Alonso and Newsome squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Alonso had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-2. The Ravens haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Bryan Alonso was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Alonso saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Despaine, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Despaine has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Alonso's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Newsome, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-6.

Alonso didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-3 win against Windermere on the 23rd. As for Newsome, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Plant City on the 17th.
