Soccer Game Preview: Rocky Mount vs. Southern Wayne + How To Watch

The Rocky Mount Gryphons will venture away from home to face off against the Southern Wayne Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rocky Mount is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Rocky Mount's offense. They lost 9-0 to Fike on Wednesday. William Holloman was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Southern Wayne was not quite Hunt's equal in the second half on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Southern Wayne came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Hunt are ranked 295th).

Southern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 10-4-1. As for Rocky Mount, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Rocky Mount suffered a grim 7-2 defeat to Southern Wayne in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Gryphons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
