Baseball Recap: Middletown Middies vs. Oak Hills Highlanders

Middletown extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-21 in the process. They came up short against the Oak Hills Highlanders, falling 13-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-1 back in April.

As for Oak Hills, they moved to 14-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Oak Hills' part, Brayden Lipps looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lipps has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wil Kraus and Nick Sheridan did most of the damage at the plate: Kraus went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Sheridan went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Sheridan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henry Maginn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Middletown will face off against Ross at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Middies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oak Hills, they will square off against Sycamore at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
