Basketball Game Preview: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Falcon Falcons

Two dominant guards in Logan Boyer and Tyler Cox are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Palmer Ridge Bears will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Falcon Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Palmer Ridge is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Palmer Ridge saw some tournament action back in December of 2024. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fruita Monument. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 30th).

The losing side was boosted by Boyer, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 18 points and four steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in January of 2024. Chaz Connors was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Falcon strolled past Air Academy with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 72-56. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Falcons this season.

Palmer Ridge better keep an eye on Christian Bertholf. He was instrumental in Falcon's win, going 9 of 10 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. Bertholf has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cox, who posted 12 points and eight boards.

Falcon was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Falcon now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Palmer Ridge, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Palmer Ridge hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.6 points per game. However, it's not like Falcon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
