South Shelby had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victor by a 39-19 margin over the Highland Cougars on Monday. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

South Shelby got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hannah Gaines out in front who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Roush, who put up seven points and six boards.

The victory made it two in a row for South Shelby and bumps their season record up to 25-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points on average over those games. As for Highland, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 27-4.
