Soccer Game Preview: Richwoods vs. Normal Community

The Richwoods Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Normal Community Ironmen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Richwoods is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Normal West just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. Neither they nor the Wildcats could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. The result kept Richwoods happy, as they haven't lost a game since March 20th.

Alexa Leon and Acosia Morris scored both of Richwoods' goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Normal Community kept a clean sheet against Centennial on Tuesday. They blew past the Chargers 5-0. Considering Normal Community have won four matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory made it two in a row for Normal Community and bumps their season record up to 5-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. Richwoods' draw gives them a new season record of 5-1-2.

Everything went Richwoods' way against Normal Community in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Richwoods made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
