Soccer Game Preview: Whitney Young vs. Metea Valley

The Whitney Young Dolphins will be taking part in a tournament against the Metea Valley Mustangs at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Whitney Young was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Payton College Prep.

Danielle Lam and Ella Cutler scored both of Whitney Young's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Metea Valley entered their tilt with Waubonsie Valley on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 6-1 win. With that victory, Metea Valley brought their scoring average up to 2.7 goals per game.

Metea Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Whitney Young, they now have a winning record of 3-2-2.
