Baseball Recap: Atlantic Christian Finds Playoff Glory Versus King's Christian

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Atlantic Christian had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against the King's Christian Knights by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Knights last Tuesday, they had to take a 10-6 defeat.

Ethan Costello made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Atlantic Christian is 9-1 when Costello posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Charlie Costello was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

The win made it two in a row for Atlantic Christian and bumps their season record up to 13-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for King's Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7.

Atlantic Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for King's Christian, they will square off against Gloucester County Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
