Basketball Recap: Eldorado Golden Eagles vs. Farmington Scorpions
On Tuesday, the Eldorado Golden Eagles faced the Farmington Scorpions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eldorado was the victim of a tough 74-53 defeat at the hands of the Scorpions. Eldorado has struggled against the Scorpions recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Eldorado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bella Hines. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 38 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 71.7% of Eldorado's points, marking the 17th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chioma Holyfield, who scored five points along with 16 rebounds and two steals.
Kapiolani Anitielu continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Farmington, scoring 21 points along with seven assists and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kjani Anitielu, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals.
Eldorado's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Farmington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eldorado will take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Mesa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Farmington, they will be playing at home against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
