Saltillo had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Thursday. They blew past the Mooreville Troopers 10-4. Considering the Tigers have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

KORBIN SHEFFIELD looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, BAYLOR ROBERTS was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. LEVIN DARSEY was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Saltillo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Saltillo pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mooreville, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-5.

Saltillo and Mooreville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Saltillo (ranked 23rd) will meet Olive Branch (ranked 108th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mooreville will square off against Shannon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday up 149 places (38 vs. 187).
