Baseball Recap: Avon Wins Going Away Against Guerin Catholic

Avon entered their tilt with Guerin Catholic on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Golden Eagles. The match marked the Orioles' most dominant win of the season so far.

Jackson Mitchell looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Avon let Brayden Salyer and Clayton Lenz run wild. Salyer scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Lenz scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Salyer has posted since back in May of 2024. Gage Zollner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Avon's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Guerin Catholic, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
