Basketball Recap: Steubenville's Winning Streak Snapped at 12 Games

It was a good run, but Steubenville unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the St. Clairsville Red Devils by a score of 71-69. The Big Red were probably out for revenge after losing 79-59 to them when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Steubenville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Santino Haney, who posted 18 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. That's the most boards Haney has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Davis, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Steubenville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Steubenville's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for St. Clairsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.

Steubenville has already played their next contest, a 63-37 win against Wheeling Park on the 29th. As for St. Clairsville, they will host Harrison Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Clairsville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
