Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Hills Highlanders vs. Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles

Eastern Hills is 8-0 against Diamond Hill-Jarvis since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Eastern Hills Highlanders will challenge the Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles at 1:00 p.m. One thing working in Eastern Hills' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Last Tuesday, Eastern Hills didn't have too much trouble with Dunbar as they won 68-49. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Wildcats are ranked 586th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eastern Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Messiah Miller out in front who posted 21 points along with six assists and six steals. Miller's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Dorian Johnson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Eastern Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Diamond Hill-Jarvis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-38 win over Western Hills on Tuesday.

Eastern Hills is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Diamond Hill-Jarvis, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-14.

Everything came up roses for Eastern Hills against Diamond Hill-Jarvis in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 75-45 win. Will Eastern Hills repeat their success, or does Diamond Hill-Jarvis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
