Baseball Recap: Narragansett Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Narragansett ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Middletown Islanders by a score of 6-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mariners as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Riley Cronin was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Narragansett is undefeated when Cronin posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jackson Hohl, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.

Narragansett's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Middletown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Narragansett will take on Rogers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Middletown, they will challenge St. Raphael Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Islanders surely won't give up without a fight.
