Basketball Recap: Scappoose Starts Season with Victory at Home

Scappoose gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They came out on top against The Dalles Riverhawks by a score of 80-72. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Riverhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Leading Scappoose to victory were Drew Butler and Will Kessi. Butler dropped a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds, while Kessi shot 58% from the field en route to 22 points and eight boards. Butler is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Miller, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points and five boards.

Scappoose has already played their next game, a 67-33 win against Mazama on the 5th. As for The Dalles, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 79-62 defeat against Crook County on the 5th.
