Basketball Recap: Central Cabarrus Vikings vs. East Mecklenburg Eagles
Central Cabarrus lost against East Mecklenburg back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Central Cabarrus Vikings took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Mecklenburg Eagles. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Daniyah Burton and Myajah Nix certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Burton dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards, while Nix posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Burton has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 12 times she's played. Lilly Rouse also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Jurnee Darling was the offensive standout of the contest as she went 9 of 16 on her way to 20 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024. Samariah Freeman was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds.
Central Cabarrus' loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for East Mecklenburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Cabarrus has already played their next game (against South Rowan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. East Mecklenburg will head out to take on Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Butler will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something East Mecklenburg surely won't give up without a fight.
