Softball Recap: LaVergne Comes Up Short

LaVergne had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it 13. They lost 16-1 to the Wilson Central Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 18-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Wilson Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-10. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Wilson Central's part, Jordan Hawkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits.

At the plate, Adelynn Perry and Ava Perry did most of the damage at the plate: Adelynn went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Ava went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Adelynn has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Davis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

LaVergne has already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Lebanon on the 23rd. Hopefully Wilson Central paid attention to the Wolverines' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
