For the second straight game, St. Aloysius will face off against Columbia Academy. The Flashes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Aloysius is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

St. Aloysius is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Columbia Academy on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 12-2. The loss continues a trend for the Flashes in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

For Columbia Academy's part, Reed Duncan made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Duncan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Corban Lawrence was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Speir, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Columbia Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Aloysius only posted an OBP of .250.

Columbia Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for St. Aloysius, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-12.

Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Aloysius has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Columbia Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
