Recap: Mesa Ridge Grizzlies vs. Loveland Red Wolves
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Loveland at home to the tune of 57-7. Considering Mesa Ridge has won seven contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mesa Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Jones, who rushed for 155 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 carries. Jones has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevon Salas, who rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.
Mesa Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Loveland, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Mesa Ridge will face off against Broomfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Broomfield will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Loveland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
