Softball Recap: Westmoreland Eagles vs. Middlesex Chargers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Westmoreland had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Middlesex Chargers by a score of 4-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in March.

Emma Burgess was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Westmoreland and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Middlesex, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Looking ahead, Westmoreland will face off against Lancaster at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Middlesex does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
