Basketball Recap: Minnehaha Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Providence Academy

On Friday, Minnehaha Academy faced Providence Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks took an 84-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Academy Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Red Hawks in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost eight in a row.

Providence Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddyn Greenway, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 boards. Greenway is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last 50 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Counts, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Minnehaha Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5. As for Providence Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Minnehaha Academy has already played their next matchup (against Mounds Park Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Providence Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
