Football Recap: North Eugene Triumphs

North Eugene won the last time they faced Roseburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Highlanders pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over the Indians.

D'Mariyae Ireland was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 192 yards and three TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown. Riley Whitwood was another key player, rushing for 151 yards while picking up 8.9 yards per carry.

North Eugene pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.5 points over those games. As for Roseburg, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Eugene will take on Churchill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Roseburg, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Eugene at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
