Baseball Game Preview: Skyline Coyotes vs. Youngker Roughriders

The Skyline Coyotes will challenge the Youngker Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Skyline's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on North Canyon with a sharp 17-0 victory.

Skyline got a great performance from Easton Leon as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, Leon gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Hunter Daniels was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Austin Calise was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Skyline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Canyon only posted an OBP of .062.

Meanwhile, Youngker was able to grind out a solid win over Eastmark on Thursday, taking the game 10-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Roughriders.

Miguel Valenzuela Delgado looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Youngker's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was David Molina, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Youngker's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Skyline, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.
