Softball Game Preview: Nipomo Titans vs. Orcutt Academy Spartans

After both having extra time off, the Nipomo Titans and the Orcutt Academy Spartans will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Orcutt Academy will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Nipomo extended their winning streak to five last Thursday. The Titans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past San Luis Obispo 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted against the Tigers since April 26, 2022.

Alyssa Van Muysen and Roxanne McLean did most of the damage at the plate: Van Muysen went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while McLean went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave McLean a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Quaresma, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Nipomo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Orcutt Academy had just enough and edged out Paso Robles 3-2 last Thursday.

Orcutt Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-9-1. As for Nipomo, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Nipomo couldn't quite get it done against Orcutt Academy when the teams last played on April 3rd as they fell 8-4. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
