Softball Game Preview: Ursuline Academy Lions vs. Central Catholic Irish

The Ursuline Academy Lions will venture away from home to take on the Central Catholic Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Ursuline Academy has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ursuline Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Mercy McAuley on Wednesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (11-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Knights 15-5. Considering the Irish have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Milla Bragg, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Shyann Bell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .306 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.

Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Ursuline Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
