Soccer Game Preview: Murphy vs. Highlands

The Murphy Bulldogs will take on the Highlands Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Murphy will be strutting in after a win while Highlands will be coming in after a defeat.

Murphy will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Swain County, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Maroon Devils on Monday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Murphy considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three contests, Highlands finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Swain County. Highlands' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Murphy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 56 goals over those eight matchups. As for Highlands, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Murphy got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Highlands by a conclusive 5-1 score. In that contest, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 4-1, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
