Baseball Recap: Huron Extends Home Winning Streak to 14

Huron waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Grosse Ile Red Devils. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Gavin O'Hara looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Myles Grace, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Dayton Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Huron hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.

Huron pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Grosse Ile, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huron will face off against Brother Rice at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chiefs 2.8, the Warriors 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Grosse Ile, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gabriel Richard at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
