Preview: Ware County Gators vs. Coffee Trojans

The Ware County Gators will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Coffee Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ware County entered their tilt with Statesboro with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Ware County blew past Statesboro 50-0 at home. Given Ware County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Statesboro is ranked 226th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ware County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dae'jeaun Dennis, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Hooks, who threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Coffee put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 56-7 victory over Greenbrier. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

Fred Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maurice Hansley, who threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes.

Ware County's victory was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. As for Coffee, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Everything went Ware County's way against Coffee in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as Ware County made off with a 31-6 victory. Does Ware County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coffee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
