Pike Central hasn't had much luck against Washington recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Chargers will look to defend their home field against the Hatchets at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pike Central and Tell City meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Chargers walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Marksmen.

JJ Belmore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Jiles Mason was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Aaron Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Pike Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Washington won against North Knox on Friday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Hatchets beat South Spencer by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hatchets.
The team relied heavily on Zach Frady, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances.
Pike Central's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 3-12. As for Washington, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
