Softball Recap: Great Falls Takes a Loss

Great Falls extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Russell Rustlers. The Bison were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rustlers earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

Elliana Frank led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Isabella Saunders, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Russell, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 25, 2024.

On Russell's side, the team relied heavily on Ruby Dean, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Dean a new career-high. Kaelyn Wedekind also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Great Falls will face off against rival Belgrade at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Russell is set to take on their familiar foe Skyview at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: the Rustlers have lost four straight at home , while the Falcons have lost three on the road.
