Basketball Game Preview: Dowagiac Chieftains vs. Buchanan Bucks

Dowagiac is 1-8 against Buchanan since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dowagiac Chieftains will host the Buchanan Bucks at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Dowagiac didn't have too much trouble with Watervliet as they won 44-26.

Meanwhile, Buchanan won against New Buffalo back in December of 2024 with 47 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Buchanan snuck past Bridgman with a 47-41 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bucks.

Buchanan's win came from a few key players Dowagiac will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alyssa Carson, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justyce Cashier, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 11 points and six steals.

Dowagiac's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Buchanan, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
