Softball Recap: Aberdeen Central Comes Up Short

Aberdeen Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-10. They came up short against the Roosevelt Rough Riders, falling 15-0. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rough Riders from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Roosevelt, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Roosevelt's part, Desiree Hinsch made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hinsch has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Roosevelt let Vanessa Kiggins and Meile Mellegaard run wild. Kiggins went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Mellegaard went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Kiggins has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Raelyn Sieler, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Aberdeen Central will challenge rival O'Gorman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Roosevelt is set to face off against their familiar foe Watertown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
