Softball Recap: Grossmont Wins Going Away Against Monte Vista

Grossmont won the last time they faced Monte Vista and things went their way on Friday too. The Foothillers put the hurt on the Monarchs with a sharp 14-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Foothillers considering their one-run performance the match before.

Nakhia Lee made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Lee was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Aly Vega was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Skyler Glover, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.

Grossmont's record is now 7-12-1. As for Monte Vista, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grossmont will take on El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Monte Vista, they will challenge Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
