Basketball Recap: Oakwood Comes Up Short

Oakwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 50-17 defeat at the hands of the Salt Fork Storm. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while the Storm are ranked 168th).

Rylee Wright was Oakwood's leading scorer, having posted five points. Gracie Hanner held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Oakwood's loss dropped their record down to 8-21. As for Salt Fork, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 25-2.

Looking ahead, Oakwood will welcome Schlarman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Salt Fork, they will venture away from home to square off against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Salt Fork's defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin's offense will have their work cut out for them.
