Basketball Game Preview: Sunset Knights vs. Don Soffer Aventura Barracuda

The Sunset Knights just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Don Soffer Aventura Barracuda at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunset is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, Sunset ended up a good deal behind Coral Park and lost 47-29.

Despite the loss, Sunset had strong showings from Esmeralda Santana, who posted eight points and five rebounds, and Gleidy Flores, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That's the most points Santana has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kayla Lassus, who put up two points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Sunset smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Don Soffer Aventura). They enjoyed a cozy 44-28 win over Scheck Hillel Community School back in December of 2024. The victory was some much needed relief for the Barracuda as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Sunset better keep an eye on Liana Kozko. She was instrumental in Don Soffer Aventura's win, putting up 24 points. Angelina Gonzalez was another key player, posting nine points.

Don Soffer Aventura's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Sunset, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
