Baseball Recap: Villa Grove Find Success

While Villa Grove's win against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Buffaloes on Thursday by a score of 6-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now won three in a row.

Villa Grove got a great performance from Zane Hosler as he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, Hosler posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Thomas Vandeventer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jackson Gire, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Villa Grove's win bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-20.

Villa Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, they are taking a road trip to face off against Rantoul at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
