Football Recap: Skyline Eagles vs. Stansbury Stallions

Skyline kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Stansbury Stallions by a score of 26-23. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Despite the loss, Skyline still got an impressive performance from Xavier Cocci, who threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Eagles also got a significant boost from Jonah Mailei, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.

Stansbury can attribute much of their success to Brighton Reutzel, who threw for 323 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt. What's more, Reutzel racked up 21 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Stansbury's leading receiver Boston Rowley was Reutzel's top target yet again, picking up 110 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Coming up, Skyline will venture away from home to face off against West Field at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 888 yards in their previous games. As for Stansbury, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bonneville at 7:00 p.m.
