Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Dunbar Crimson Tide
On Wednesday, the Roosevelt Roughriders faced the Dunbar Crimson Tide in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt was dealt a 57-22 defeat at the hands of Dunbar. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Roosevelt in their matchups with Dunbar: they've now lost six in a row.
Dunbar got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emorean Thomas out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Thomas is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Kirstin Holt, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Roosevelt has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Dunbar, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will take on Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Eastern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Poets at 12:30 p.m. on January 27th.
