Basketball Recap: Dominic Armijo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fowler over Peyton

Fowler lost against Peyton back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fowler Grizzlies took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Peyton Panthers. While the Grizzlies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 14-8 in the first quarter.

Fowler's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Armijo, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Montoya, who scored 11 points and five boards.

Leading Peyton to victory were Michael Perry and Bryce Love. Perry went 9-for-15 to rack up 19 points and four steals, while Love almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Perry has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Kaden Lehman-Tubbs was another key player, putting up four points.

Fowler's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Peyton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Fowler has already played their next game, a 66-34 loss against Crowley County on the 22nd. As for Peyton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-22 victory against The Colorado Springs School on the 25th.
