Baseball Game Preview: Caldwell Hornets vs. Shoemaker Wolves

The Caldwell Hornets will take on the Shoemaker Wolves in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Caldwell's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave two weeks ago, when they got past Bartlett's usually-dominant pitching crew. Caldwell put the hurt on Bartlett with a sharp 11-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Meanwhile, Shoemaker hadn't done well against Lorena recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Shoemaker never let Lorena get on the board and left with a 6-0 win.

The team relied heavily on Eliel Rivera, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Natan Colon also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Shoemaker is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-3-2 record this season.
