Basketball Recap: Southmont's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After losing to North Montgomery the last time they met, Southmont decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Southmont Mounties came out on top against the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers by a score of 34-27 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mounties.

Southmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Barry out in front who posted 12 points and five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Barry has scored at least a third of Southmont's points. Layla Gomez was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight boards and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why North Montgomery lost, don't look at Piper Ramey. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Southmont's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9. As for North Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Southmont will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Tri-West Hendricks at 7:30 p.m. Tri-West Hendricks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. As for North Montgomery, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-39 victory against Greencastle on the 14th.
